Event Description

Thomas is a retired Canberran, a former small business owner and public servant. When Thomas suffered a stroke in May 2023, his life changed overnight. Movement was lost, routines disrupted, and the future uncertain. Let's Go for a Walk follows his gradual return to mobility and independence through daily effort, physiotherapy, and small, determined steps forward. Along the way, Thomas turns to poetry, nature, walking and gardening to support his recovery and restore a sense of meaning. This is a story of resilience, care, and quiet progress. It offers encouragement to stroke survivors, those recovering from trauma, and the people who walk beside them. Let’s Go for a Walk details the rehabilitation process to restore his mobility and return to active, independent living.

Thomas will have copies available for purchase and signing after the talk, with light refreshments provided by the library.
