Short story writing author talk with Ursula and Lee
Saturday 8 August 2026 at 11:00AM
Tamworth Library
Event Description
In partnership with the New England Writers' Centre, join Ursula and Lee for a lively one-hour conversation on the art of the short story. Ursula will explore writing for middle grade and YA readers, while Lee will discuss short fiction and creative non-fiction for adults. Structured as a ‘panel’ dialogue and concluding with a Q&A, this free event is a rare chance to hear two of Australia’s most distinctive voices reflect on the possibilities of the short form.
Ursula Dubosarsky is the author of more than 60 books for children and young adults, and has received major national honours, including the NSW, Victorian, South Australian and Queensland Premier’s Literary Awards. She served as Australian Children’s Laureate from 2020 to 2021. Ursula lives in Sydney with her family.
Lee Kofman is a Russian-born Israeli-Australian author of six books and editor of three anthologies, based in Melbourne. A full-time writer, teacher and mentor, her short fiction, creative non-fiction and poetry have been widely published in Australia and internationally.
