Event Description

Geetanjali Shree’s decades-long career was cracked open for the English-speaking world when her epic Tomb of Sand won the International Booker Prize in 2022.

Tomb of Sand is a luminous novel of family history through India’s partition with Geetanjali’s customary innovation and playfulness of language and structure. Now her kaleidoscopic voice has reached a new international audience.

In this special event, Geetanjali reflects on her literary career, spanning novels, plays and short stories, and her most recently translated novels, Our City That Year and The Roof Beneath Their Feet. In conversation with Roanna Gonsalves.

Temporary access to this recording is with thanks to the Sydney Writers Festival and the State Library of NSW.
